The role

At Ferocia, we’re building innovative financial solutions in the cloud, and we’re looking for a passionate and driven Cloud Platform Engineer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact, working on cutting-edge projects from the ground up as we uplift and improve Bendigo Bank’s e-Banking platform. There will also be exciting opportunities to work on Up’s entirely cloud-native infrastructure and help us scale for the future. What you’ll do

• Build and maintain Up’s cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), focusing on security and scalability.
• Uplift and improve Bendigo Bank’s e-Banking cloud infrastructure on a mixture of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Contribute to the development and deployment of cloud-native applications.
• Collaborate with a team of experienced engineers to design and implement robust, secure, and efficient solutions.
• Bring your unique perspective and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our team’s culture.
• Learn and grow alongside senior engineers, expanding your skills and expertise in cloud technologies.

Challenges you’ll tackle

• Large scale migration: We want to leverage our past successes with Up and apply them to the Bendigo Bank e-Banking platform. You will be working on high-value initiatives that have a tangible customer impact.
• Building secure systems from the ground up: Security is paramount at Ferocia, and you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our platform is robust and protected.
• Working in a fast-paced environment: We’re constantly evolving and innovating, which means you’ll need to be adaptable and comfortable with change.
• Contributing to a growing team: As we scale, you’ll have the opportunity to shape our processes and best practices.

What we’re looking for

• Essential:
  • Proven experience building cloud-native products (GCP preferred).
  • A strong focus on security best practices.
  • 3-4 years of overall experience, with a solid foundation in cloud engineering.
• Nice-to-haves (We can help you learn these):
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

6-12 months from now

• You’ll be actively contributing to the delivery of key projects, making a tangible impact on our product roadmap.
• You’ll be a valued member of the team, bringing your own unique skills and perspective.
• You’ll have grown your technical skills and expertise, taking advantage of mentorship opportunities and challenging projects.

We have a hybrid work culture where people can attend the Ferocia office as much or as little as makes sense for them, but we are currently only hiring in Melbourne (or adjacent areas) as we still value physically getting together at least a half-dozen times per year.
